Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom is in Washington DC, not for diplomacy but to participate in World ORT\’s quadrennial conference.
The conference, which opened on June 3 and runs through June 5, provides a platform for the world\’s largest Jewish educational organization to set its working strategy for the next four years.
In Israel, World ORT operates the "Kadima Mada" (Onward Science) program, which seeks to foster science and technology education in schools and integrate advanced teaching technology. The program is particularly active in the periphery, particularly in the Galilee and in communities adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
Avi Ganon, deputy director of World ORT\’s Kadima Mada program, is representing the group\’s Israeli operations at the Washington conference.
