Only 7% Think Protests Can Save Ulpana

A poll conducted by the Panels institute found that just 7% of Israeli Jews living in Judea and Samaria believe that protests can save the Ulpana neighborhood of Beit El from demolition.

The survey found that more respondents had hope for the power of social networking than for that of more traditional means of protest. 13.9% said that without a solid presence on social networking sites there will be no change in public perception.

More than 75% of respondents said they have a Facebook page that they use at least once a week.

When asked what could counteract pro-Judea and Samaria activism on social sites, 28.8% said the mainstream media, and 6.6% said a lack of presence on social networking sites. However, 42.4% said there is nothing that could prevent online activism from having an effect.

The Samaria Residents Council has begun training Judea and Samaria Jews to use social networks to make their case.
