Israel’s Ambassador to Argentina, Daniel Gazit, maintained he "fully agrees" with Federal Judge Ariel Lijo’s decision to summon former President Carlos Menem – and other six former Argentine officials- to testify in the case on the alleged irregularities in the original investigation of the 1994 AMIA bombing.
Gazit also hoped that this measure would "lead to the truth."
"We trust Prosecutor (Alberto) Nisman and the Argentine Justice," Gazit said during his first meeting with several community media outlets and press representatives of Jewish institutions.
The Jewish News Agency (AJN) was present at the reception offered by Gazit, his wife Michelle, and his daughter Abigail in his residence.
During lunch, a typical Israeli menu was served.
"We hope that Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will visit Israel, and we also hope that (Israeli President) Shimon Peres will be able to travel soon to Argentina," Gazit said in his speech.
