Two mortar shells fired from Syria landed in the southern Golan Heights adjacent to the Israeli-Syrian border on Thursday.
Initial evidence suggests that the shells were a result of errant fire from Syria\’s civil war that accidentally entered Israeli territory, the IDF stated.
The Syrian civil war has frequently spilled over into Israeli territory over the past two years with mortar shells falling in Israeli territory and injured Syrians being admitted to Israel for medical treatment.
Two sick Syrian babies were allowed to enter Israel for medical treatment early on Thursday morning. A one-year-old and a ten-month old were admitted to Western Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, Israel Radio reported.
A Syrian man who was suffering from a serious head wound was also taken in on Thursday morning.
The Western Galilee Medical Center has treated some 85 Syrians since the onset of the country\’s civil war, while Ziv Medical Center has also treated several dozen Syrians.
