The Israeli ambassador-designate to Argentina, Daniel Gazit, supported the request submitted by the Argentine Justice demanding the embargo of the bank accounts and assets of the former Iranian officials charged for their involvement in the 1994 terror attack against the Argentine Jewish Mutual Association AMIA.
In a dialogue with AJN Jewish News Agency, Gazit said the measure requested by Argentina’s chief prosecutor Alberto Nisman, which has been supported by Judge Rodolfo Canicoba Corral, "is the usual step taken in these type of cases, with any criminal, to prevent them from doing something else."
"Those who carried out the bombings of the Israeli Embassy and the Jewish Mutual must be haunted, and brought to trial," Gazit, who is waiting to receive his credentials to replace outgoing Israeli Ambassador Rafael Eldad, told AJN.
On the other hand, the diplomat also referred to the historic victory of Barack Obama in the U.S. elections.
Gazit stressed that the "United States is always going to be a friend of Israel, no matter who is its President".
Regarding his expectations about his future work in the Israeli Embassy to Buenos Aires, he said that he has "good expectations because I feel that I am coming back home".
