Border Police Officer Hurt in Jerusalem Clashes; Four Palestinians Wounded in West Bank

Itongadol.- A Border Police officer was lightly wounded in clashes with Palestinians in Isawiyah in East Jerusalem on Sunday, while two Palestinians were seriously wounded near Bethlehem in a series of clashes between locals and Israeli forces. 

According to the police, the officers were carrying out an operation in Isawiyah when they were attacked with stones and firebombs, wounding one officer. Troops responded with low-velocity bullets, hitting a 19-year-old suspected rioter who was then arrested. 
In the village of al-Khader near Bethlehem, clashes were sparked when Israeli troops abruptly entered the village. According to Palestinian reports, a youth was wounded in the chest and rushed to the Al-Yamama hospital inside the village. A doctor was also seriously wounded. It wasn\’t immediately clear whether his injuries were sustained in the hospital or in his nearby home.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army reported that several Palestinians threw stones at vehicles near Route 60 in the West Bank. An Israeli army unit opened fire toward them, and two were reportedly wounded. 
Also on Sunday, the Shin Bet security service arrested a suspect in a stabbing attack that left one person critically wounded in the West Bank settlement of Ma\’aleh Adumim.
The suspect was identified as Sa\’adi Ali Abu Hamed, 21, a resident of al-Azariya, a village near Jerusalem.  
Eyewitnesses in al-Azariya and the area said that large police and army forces raided the village and the nearby Bedouin communities of Abu Nuar and Jabal al-Baba, carrying out searches. In addition, they said, the soldiers entered the Dir Ban neighborhood in al-Azariya, detained three youths and violently searched homes. Entrances to the village have been blocked since Saturday evening.
