Itongadol.-Thank you everybody for meeting and honouring my dear brother. Rabbis with complete authority, with their hearts, have shed tears and it is a comfort for the family, you and I.

Oh, beautiful brother. You weren´t the famous writer´s brother, no, I was the rabbi´s brother, I always said so. Marcelo was rabbis Reuvén´s brother.

Who killed him? Amán did, the Pharaoh. But above all, the Nazis killed him, those who want to extinguish the Jewish people. There´s no territorial conflict, no political problems. There´s nothing we have done wrong in the Land of Israel. We created the best country of the world, the most human, the most cult, the most liberal, the most respectful of the minorities. It is the best thing that has happened in the 20th century, it is the country where the most peace should be in the world.

The Palestinians that killed my brother are exactly the historians that killed my grandfather´s family, there´s no difference. It´s a war of idolaters against the people of Israel.
Why do they hate us? They hate us because we love knowledge, because we want freedom for the entire world, because we want every person to have a name, because we want to raise our children, because we respect women, because we respect those who are different, because we want to live in peace. Those are the only reasons why they hate us.

The Hebron massacre was long before there was a State of Israel, before there was a foot in Gaza and Cisjordania. They massacred Jews with knives just like now. Nothing changed, nor will change unless we destroy the contemporary nazism that is the Islamic fundamentalism. Until the free men of the world join each other and decide to defeat it we will continue to be slaughtered in the streets.

Who was my brother? Besides, what you know, he was a great reader of the Second World War, like my father. Every week we spoke over the phone and talked about Churchill, Eisenhower, the héroes that had set the world free, Ben Gurion, Itzhak Rabin, Moshe Dayan, Ariel Sharon. Every week we took a few moments to talk about international politics. My brother was a Rocky Balboa’s fan and in one of our last conversations we talked about its next movie, “Creed”.

* Reuven Birmajer Z’L was honoured in the Ashkenazy community Shelves Ajim, which was attended by many Jewish leaders of Argentina, including the israelí ambassador Dorit Shavit.
