possible terrorist attack was thwarted at a West Bank checkpoint on Tuesday morning that has been the site of three terror attacks in the last two weeks.
An IDF unit apprehended a Palestinian terrorist at the Gilboa West Bank crossing and discovered a pipe bomb and knife in his possession.
The suspect was arrested on the Palestinian side of the crossing, and confessed to soldiers that he was planning an attack, an army spokeswoman said. Security forces took the suspect in for questioning. There were no injuries in the incident.
The Defense Ministry shut down the crossing following the spate of continuous Palestinian attacks at the site. The decision to close the crossing, which is run by the Defense Ministry\’s Crossings Authority, was taken following "instructions by defense officials," the Ministry said in a statement.
The Gilboa Crossing will remain closed "until further notice," it added.
Monday\’s attack was the third attack at the Gilboa crossing in the last ten days.
On Monday, two Palestinian terrorists attempted to stab a soldier outside of the crossing.
