Itongadol.- An Israeli Border Police officer, 20, was lightly wounded in a stabbing attack in northern Jerusalem Monday afternoon.
The attack took place outside police national headquarters on the capital’s Haim Bar Lev Road, near a stabbing attack last week at the adjacent light rail station.
The attacker is an Arab woman roughly 18 years old, according to early reports.
She was approached by the officer, who said she acted suspiciously. When he was close, she turned around and stabbed him with a knife she held in her hand.
The officer then shot the assailant. She was evacuated to hospital with moderate wounds.
The policeman was taken to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus. According to medics, he sustained stab wounds in his upper body.
Channel 2 reports police may be searching for a suspected accomplice.
On Palestinian social media, many are claiming that the woman was herself attacked by an unidentified Jewish settler, and was shot by the policeman while fleeing the purported attacker, Israel Radio’s Gal Bergerreports on Twitter (Hebrew link).
