Itongadol.- Israel and Japan, two countries facing rogue regimes, should cooperate as much as those two regimes – North Korea and Iran – Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said in Tokyo on Monday.

Itongadol.- Netanyahu\’s comments came at the start of a meeting with the members of the Israel Japan Parliamentary Friendship League led by MP Gen Nakatani during his first full working day of his five-day trip to Japan.

"There is a common bond between us," said Netanyahu, on his first visit to Japan as prime minister since re-assuming power in 2009. "We\’re both democratic, progress, technological societies. You face North Korea, which is a rogue regime with nuclear weapons. We face the possibility of Iran, which is a rogue regime that wants to have nuclear weapons. They\’re cooperating between them, and we should cooperate between us."

Netanyahu praised the friendship league for "keeping the torch of Israeli-Japanese friendship alive, and now it\’s growing stronger. And it will grow stronger with this visit. I\’m confident of that."

The focus of the visit is bilateral ties, especially greater economic cooperation.

Earlier in the day Netanyahu met with the corporate leadership of Panasonic.

"There is one area that transcends everything and affects everything and this is the question of cyber security," Netanyahu said during that meeting. "All the systems that I saw here are computerized systems; they\’re all vulnerable."

Netanyahu said that cyber security was a "growing need and a central need for your businesses. This is something Israel is developing by leaps and bounds on a global scale and we are open to participation not only with governments, but also with companies."

He said the biggest companies in the world in this field are coming to Israel to invest in cyber security, and invited Panasonic to do the same.

Netanyahu was scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Monday evening.
