Itongadol/AJN.- Suspected terrorist stabs police officer in back near Adam settlement, causing moderate wounds; security forces search for suspect.

An Israeli police officer was stabbed and moderately wounded near the Adam settlement, north of Jerusalem in the West Bank on Monday in what is believed to be a terror attack.

Security forces launched a massive manhunt to locate the suspect, who they believe escaped in the direction of the nearby Palestinian village of Kfar Jaba.

MDA paramedics transported the injured police officer to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

The attack came a day after a bomb went off in a bus in the Tel Aviv suburb of Bat Yam in a suspected terror attack. No suspects had been arrested in the attack as of Monday.

Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon said following the attack that Israel should reconsider the upcoming release of Palestinian security prisoners as part of the peace talks.

"In a normal country, when a bus blows up on Sunday and a police officer is stabbed on Monday, you don\’t release terrorists as a \’gesture\’ the next week," he said.
