Itongadol.-A unique gun lock developed by Israeli military veterans could help save lives.

While fierce debate is raging in the U.S. over gun control regulations, the Israeli-based Zore team says their firearm safety device could be a solution to some of the issues.

The Zore X lock is a mechanical dial that fits in to the chamber on semi-automatic guns, preventing unauthorized use.

"It\’s a cartridge shaped product that you put inside the chamber of the gun and then once you decide to lock it nobody can charge the gun," says Yonatan Zimmerman CEO and co-founder of Zore.

Entering a personalized pin code quickly unlocks the gun.
"The unlocking mechanism is very flexible, you can choose a very simple code or a long code, depends what you want, and you can unlock it under two seconds," Zimmerman added.

The company hopes it will minimize unintentional gun deaths but still gives gun owners quick access when needed.

Unlike gun safes or traditional locks, Zore X allows a fast transition, even in pitch dark, from a locked gun to a charged and ready-to-shoot gun.

The turn-dial attachment has a Bluetooth module and motion sensor enabling communication with a smartphone app that alerts owners if their gun is being tampered with.

Zore has already more than tripled its initial target of $100,000 USD on its Indiegogo crowd funding campaign to begin commercial manufacture.
