Itongadol/AJN.- Argentinean Rabbi Abraham Skorka, Pope Francis’ close friend, sent his greetings to the Christian community in Christmas. “Even though there are multiple aspects that differentiate Jews from Christians, it is in the coincidences where we must cooperate for the construction of a better world. Taking this into account, I wish the Christian faith a happy, healthy and harmonious festivity”, he said to the Jewish News Agency (Agencia Judía de Noticias).
“Jesus was born in a Jewish family in Judea in the first century. He was, as the gospel tell, a master, a Rabbi, and therefore the essence of his teachings and messages are found rooted in that worldview and tradition. That message that shape the spiritual base of those that will celebrate his birth in Christmas refers to love, justice and mercy with which the existence must be faced, the faith in a transcending God, the sanctity that lays in each human being, in its condition”, he expressed.
“I hope that the spiritual message can be significant and recreated by many, and that in its coincidences we can all together build that peace realty envisioned by the prophets and sustained as a strong hope for centuries by those that were and are sensible to their words”, he added.
