Winners at Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival named

Itongadol.- The recently concluded 17th annual Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival, which featured appearances by Dr. Ruth Westheimer and Hervé de Luze, one of the most distinguished film editors in the world, awarded a number of prizes.

The Schoumann Award for Jewish Cinema went to How to Win Enemies, by Gabriel Lichtmann. This film from Argentina is an engrossing thriller mixed with comedy.

The award comes with a cash prize of €3,500.

The Schoumann Award Honorable Mention went to Kapo in Jerusalem, directed by Uri Barbash (Beyond the Walls) and produced by Haim Sharir. The movie is about Holocaust survivors during Israel’s War of Independence.

The Israeli Short Film Award in Memory of Bnaya Zuckerman went to The Little Dictator, by Nurith Cohn, which tells the story of an academic who feels unappreciated by his family and students. It comes with a prize of NIS 10,000.

An honorable mention in the Short Film Competition goes to Gezoindelach, directed by Efrat Berger, about a young man from a Hassidic family who begins to question his identity.
