Itongadol.- Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović arrived to the Knesset onThursday as the special guest of Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein.

Edelstein welcomed Grabar-Kitarović in a meeting held in his Knesset office with the President and her entourage.

"We are pleased to welcome you and are aware that you are a true friend of Israel. The Knesset is extremely developed in parliamentary diplomacy, because diplomacy must be part of the representation of Israel, and the Knesset is the place where all views are represented."

"Israel and Croatia have many shared interests," Edelstein continued. "Holocaust commemoration, for example, is an issue that Croatia is also very aware of."

"With respect to the agreement with Iran, it\’s important to explain again that this is not \’Jewish paranoia\’ but a real threat to world peace andhumanity as a whole should be very concerned about the agreement with Iran," the Knesset Speaker added.

Croatia\’ President thanked Edelstein, noting her entourage "had a special day yesterday at Yad Vashem, and we will try to establish a Holocaustmemorial so we too can learn from the past and know how to fight hatred, anti-Semitism and xenophobia of all kinds."

"The global world must cooperate on all these issues…and threats of war from terrorist and extremist organizations like Islamic State."
Grabar-Kitarović then made a plea for negotiations to resume between Israel and the Palestinians.

"We support the solution of two-states for two peoples, and I wish you will conduct a persistent dialogue and that you will be successful in bringing a quick solution to the conflict in your region," she stated.

Grabar-Kitarović is Croatia\’s first female president and its fourth president since the country gained independence in 1991. She previously served as foreign minister, ambassador to the US and a senior member of NATO.
