Palestinians fired a rocket at southern Israel on Thursday evening activating Code Red sirens in the Hof Asheklon Regional Council for the second time in 24 hours.

The rocket landed in a field and there were no injuries or damages

Security forces were searching for remnants of a projectile.

Shortly after 12 a.m Thursday, a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip triggered rocket alert sirens in the area.

Earlier Thursday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Israel holds Hamas responsible for the recent string of attacks emanating from the Gaza Strip.

The premier warned of Israeli retribution against attacks on its citizens.

"We will strike those who attack us along with those who sponsor them," he said at an IAF graduation ceremony. "There will be no immunity for anyone."

Out of concern over potential rocket attacks amid heightened tensions, the IDF deployed the Iron Dome missile defense system on Thursday over Ashdod, in addition to those already mobilized over Beersheba, Ashkelon and Sderot.
