Israel´s ambassador in Argentina, Daniel Gazit, assured the Agencia Judía de Noticias (Jewish News Agency) that in “the current peace situation between the Lebanon and Israel, the libanese troops should have asked the UNIFIL about the awareness of the Israeli routinely tree felling before opening fire”.
The diplomat referred to yesterday’s incident when the libanese troops killed the Israeli soldier, Dov Hariri. As a response, three military men and one journalist fell.
Gazit explained that it was “a routinely job in the Israeli territory and always in contact with the United Nations` force to the Lebanon.
“Let the lebanon authorities explain why the army shot because the job didn’t present a threat to the Lebanon and no tanks were involved”.
Finally, Gazit remembered that “Israel sent a complaint letter to the UN`s Safety Chancery”.
