President Peres to represent Israel at UN Climate Change Conference

At the conference, the President will attend the last three days of discussions alongside 120 heads of states from across the world. The heads of state from the United States, France, Germany, Russia, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, India, China, Britain, and Holland as well as from other countries will also be in attendance.

At the conference the President will deliver a special speech emphasizing the importance of environmental challenges for both Israel and the world. The President will articulate Israel’s obligation to participate in the global debate on climate change and will stress the active role Israel must play in developing the solution to greenhouse gas emissions.
 
President Peres will meet with Cleantech industry executives to present the leading renewable energy technologies developed in Israel. The President will also attend a special signing ceremony for the climate change treaty along with other global leaders.

In addition, the President will use his time in Denmark to light Hanukah candles with the local Jewish community. President Peres will also participate in a special event hosted by her Excellency, the Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II in honor of the conference guests.
