Itongadol.- The Foreign Ministry on Thursday confirmed that the body of a missing Israeli woman was found, several days after two Israeli tourists went missing on a rafting trip in Peru.

An Israeli search team was dispatched Wednesday to help search for the two missing Israeli tourists who disappeared when their raft overturned on a stretch of the Apurimac River in southern Peru Monday afternoon. The search for the second Israeli’s body is ongoing.

The relevant families have been notified.

The raft contained eight Israelis and a guide. Six of the Israelis and the guide were in good condition in the city of Cuzco in southeastern Peru after the accident.

Peruvian search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and the Israeli consul in Lima was sent to the scene to investigate and is in touch with local authorities.

The river, which runs through a deep gorge in the Andes mountains, is popular with adventure tourists. Two Israelis have been killed there in rafting accidents in recent years.
