A teacher and two students aged 11 and 12 from Tamra in the Galilee were lightly injured after a family arrived at the local elementary school and threw acid at the three.

The three suffered burns and were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect fled the scene.

Northern District Police Spokesman Yaki Ohana said that police forces arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. According to Ohana, "the suspects fled the scene and the reason for the attack is a local family feud."

Among those involved in the attack was an 80-year-old man who was taken in for questioning. "Police know the identity of the suspects who were with him and are now canvassing the area to locate them," the officer noted.

Representatives of the parents association and the school supervisor arrived at the school and denounced the act. One parent told Ynet: "This is a serious act which cannot be ignored. The violence against students and teachers continues and so we must battle against a phenomenon that endangers our children and the faculty."

The parents and the board called for all Tamra schools to be closed on Wednesday. "The school is not the place to settle accounts between feuding families. Today acid was thrown at two students and a teacher, later they might come to school armed," they warned.
