Itongadol.- As is the case every year, a surge is expected in the number of Israelis traveling abroad during the upcoming Passover holiday.
It is estimated that 1.1 million incoming and outgoing passengers will pass through Ben-Gurion International Airport during the Passover travel season this year — a 14% increase over last year.
Around 6,900 flights will depart Ben-Gurion during this period, a 15% increase from last year.
The airport is bringing in extra employees to handle the increased volume of passengers during Passover.
The busiest travel days of the Passover season at the airport are expected to be April 17 (around 61,000 passengers), April 21 (around 71,000 passengers), April 28 (around 67,700 passengers) and May 1 (around 77,200 passengers).
The top destination for Israeli travelers during Passover are the U.S., Italy, France and Greece.
Meanwhile, China\’s Hainan Airlines will start service on its new Tel Aviv-Beijing route on April 28.
