Itongadol/AJN.- Reuven Birmajer – 45 years old, born in Argentina, a resident of Kiryat Yeraim, married with seven children – was stabbed this afternoon in a terrorist attack committed by two Palestinians, close to the Jaffa Gate, in Jerusalem.

The victim – the orthodox brother of the argentinean writer Marcelo Birmajer – suffered multiple stab wounds in the attack.

The other victim of the attack, Ofer Ben Ari, (46), passed away a few minutes before. The hospital released a statement which said: "Despite the extraordinary efforts made to try to save his life, he died. Hospital staff express their condolences to the family of the victim".

Authorities are investigating whether Ofer Ben Ari was injured by gunfire from border policewomen who shot dead the terrorists. Two more people were injured, one of them seriously.

The attack occurred around 13:15 on Wednesday when two Palestinian terrorists from the Qalandiya refugee camp arrived at the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem, and stabbed three civilians. Assi Aharoni, the deputy spokesman of the Jerusalem District of the Israeli Police, said that "the police women immediately understood what was happening and acted with courage, detected the two terrorists with knives at a time they were attacking people. They fired and so have prevented more casualties".
