Itongadol.- Sir Elton John is expected to return to Israel for his fourth visit at the end of May to perform a concert at Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv.

Israel\’s premier concert promoter Shuki Weiss is working to clinche the deal to bring one of the most successful musical artists to the Holy Land. Weiss promised that "when I have news, I\’ll update you."

Sir Elton John, 68, first appeared in Israel on the country\’s Independence Day in 1979, as part of a tour the proceeds of which all went to the charity organization Variety. Meeting with reporters at the time he said that "in all my concerts around the world I have never seen a crowd taking part so actively. Everyone sang together wholeheartedly, and I\’m only sorry that because of the lighting I could not see the whole warm and enthusiastic audience.

"I decided to come to Israel because I wanted to see something different. This is also the reason why I\’m leaving straight from here to tour Russia."

In 1993 he landed in Israel for the second time, and seemed to be less impressed by the warm welcome of the Israelis, as his arrival was accompanied by a scandal that nearly led to the cancellation of his show: When he got to his hotel, he was accosted by dozens of paparazzi, then a great commotion broke out between photographers, John\’s bodyguards and the British singer himself. He was supposed to appear at Yarkon Park the next day, but he canceled his appearance and returned to London.

After many attempts to bring him back, he returned to Israel two days later and performed the show.

In 2010, he performed at the Ramat Gan Stadium in front of 40,000 enthralled spectators.

John was born in 1947 and began playing piano at the young age of three. At 15, he started a blues group and five years later he met his creative partner Bernie Taupin. His debut album came out in 1969 but didn\’t make waves. His big break came in 1970 with the release of his second eponymous album which included a huge hit – "Your Song," which John Lennon described as the "perfect song".

From here on began the real climb, throughout the 1970s, when he released a string of wildly successful albums and hits. In 1973, his famous album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" was released. It included big hits like the title song, and of course the song "Candle in the Wind."

Since then, dozens of hits have made Sir John one of the most successful singers in the history of music. He has sold over 300 million albums and holds the record for the best selling single in history, "Candle in the Wind" 1997, which was dedicated to the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
