Hamas operative reveals group\’s new plans to tunnel into Israel from Gaza

 Shin Bet arrests 21-year-old from Rafah with knowledge of terrorist group\’s plans.

Hamas operative recently arrested by Israeli security forces has provided a multitude of information on the terrorist organization\’s plans to use attack tunnels into Israel from Rafah in southern Gaza, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) revealed on Tuesday.

Yuli Ibrahim Adal Shahada Sha\’ar, 21, from Rafah, told the Shin Bet that he has been active in Hamas\’s tunnel-digging efforts in recent months and was exposed to the group\’s plans to dig tunnels into Kerem Shalom on the Israeli side of the Gaza border. He provided a great deal of information on the location of tunnels in the Rafah area.

In addition, Sha\’ar said that the new road built by Hamas near the Gaza border is intended to serve sneak attacks against Israel, carried out by vehicles which would crash the border fence and enter Israel.

During Operation Protective Edge, Sha\’ar provided logistics support to Hamas fighters, bringing them military and explosives equipment. He also took an active part in warfare, placing explosive devices in the paths of IDF tanks and helping in observation duty.

He also provided his Shin Bet interrogators with information about Iran\’s providing of military support to Gaza and its efforts to strengthen Hamas. According to Sha\’ar, the Iranian support comes in the form of funding, advanced weapons and electronic equipment, such as frequency-scrambling devices used to take down Israeli drones over the skies of Gaza.
