Itongadol.- AMIA, the Argentinian jewish community, celebrated its 120th anniversary on Tuesday. It was created in 1894 as Jevrá Kedushá, destined to generate the necessary conditions to fulfill the jewish tradition. One of its first actions was to fund a communitary cemetery.
The celebration was attended by AMIA´s ex presidents, who formed the Honor Comittee, and the institution´s authorities. "It is an honor to receive them because they have dedicated their time and effort to give the best of themselves for the community", Leonardo Jmelnitzky, AMIA´s president, said to the Jewish News Agency – AJN.
The guests shared lunch and then a plaque of the institution´s first act was exposed. "I am proud to have them here. AMIA makes us proud because it is a great institution and the main entity of the Argentinian Judaism", he added.
