Itongadol.- A Palestinian was killed early on Thursday during an Israeli military operation in the West Bank town of Qalqilyah, only hours after a Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli forces in Jenin.
An elite force from the Paratroopers Brigade came under fire while attempting to capture a terrorist cell in Qalqilyah, located some 20 kilometers west of Nablus, the Israel Defense Forces said, adding that the Palestinian was killed after the force returned fire.
Palestinian sources said the man who was killed was 28-year-old Saleh Yassin, a member of the Palestinian general intelligence service.
There were no casualties on the Israeli side.
In subsequent searches, a Jericho pistol found on the scence was seized by the soldiers. A source in the IDF said that this is the third shooting incident on Israeli soldiers in the past three months.
According to the Palestinians, the man was badly wounded after the soldiers shot him when he was walking out into the street, and died soon after arriving at the hospital. They said he was not involved in an exchange of fire.
On Wednesday, one Palestinian was killed and four others were wounded in clashes that erupted during an arrest operation by an elite Israel Police force in Jenin.
