Public Relations and Diaspora Matters Israeli Minister, Yuli Edelstein, is arriving to Argentina this Friday to deepen bilateral relationships and as part as a tour that includes several Latinamerica countries.
Edelstein will be received by the chancellor, Héctor Timmerman, and will visit the AMIA building, in Pasteur 633, where a ceremony will be held to honour the Israel Embassy (1992) and AMIA (1994) terrorist attack victims, and will meet with the most important community leaders.
In an exclusive dialogue with the Agencia Judía de Noticias (Jewish News Agency), Edelstein confirmed that the Israel Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, will visit Brazil during August, although he wasn’t able to confirm if he will visit Buenos Aires, where one of the most important jew communities of the world is.
The minister said that until the moment, only Brazil was included in Netanyahu`s Schedule because he “can’t leave his country for a long time”. This is due to the fact that Israel has intense negotiations with the Palestinian Authority to reach direct conversations and a peace agreement.
Before he starts his Latinamerica tour, Edelstein warned about the danger that the Iran influence represents in many Latin America countries, such as Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia and Ecuador.
“Iran is a danger and we are worried not only for Israel and the jew community but also for the entire world because it spreads terror and generates a nuclear program to build nuclear weapons”, the minister said.
Edelstein regrets that the Venezuela’s president, Hugo Chávez, has broken his relationship with Israel.
Chávez finished his diplomatic bond with Israel at the beginnings of 2009 when he repudiated the israeli offensive in the Gaza border against the terrorist organisation Hamas.
About his arrival to Buenos Aires, Edelstein showed himself “happy of coming back to Argentina alter 8 years and of being able to meet with the Argentinean jew community”.
The minister referred to the deep and old bonds between both nations, which are still alive.
Besides, Edelstein talked about the terrorists attacks to the Israel Embassy in Argentina and AMIA and said that there is “a sensation in the jew community that there is not enough effort done” to know the truth and arrest the responsible.
Edelstein will finish his tour, that begins in Brazil, in Colombia, when the new president, Juan Manuel Santos, an important Israel ally, raises.
