Itongadol.- A 17-year-old Palestinian resident of Ramallah, who was on his way to carry out a knifing attack in Jerusalem was arrested on Wednesday night.
Police arrested the suspect when they were called to the West Bank settlement of Dolev in response to a suspected burglary. When they arrived at the settlement the police noticed the teenager who was standing at the hitchhiking station for Jerusalem. Police searched the suspect\’s back pack and found a knife and screwdriver.
The suspect initially refused to cooperate with the police but under questioning he said that he planned to travel to the capital by bus, and on the way to stab the bus driver inorder to cause him to lose control of the vehicle and for the bus to flip over and cause more casualties.
The youth said that if he was picked up at the hitchhiking station by a private vehicle his plan was to stab the driver, according to the police.
The investigation of the suspect was transferred from the police to the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) which demonstrates the seriousness of the arrest, a senior police official said.
