A man in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn assaulted a 73-year-old Jewish man Saturday morning while walking to his synagogue. The suspect ran after he didn’t say anything or take anything from the victim, who was knocked to the ground, police sources said.

The man was on his way to synagogue for shabbos morning prayers at approximately 8:40 a.m., when he was hit by a man in front of 1625 East 13th Street. The suspect hit the victim in the face multiple times, causing the old man to fell to ground, injuring his elbows and with lacerations to his head, the sources said.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force Unit was notified about the assault but are not ready to call this assault a hate crime yet, the same sources said.

The suspect fled from the scene northbound on 13th Street and is being described as a black male, 5-foot-10-inches tall, cops said.
