Itongadol.- Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the manufacturer of Iron Dome, has recently held a test in southern Israel in which the missile-defense system successfully intercepted a drone.
Rafael said the Iron Dome had the ability intercept the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) even before it shot down its first rocket over Ashkelon in 2011.
A promotional video released by the company on Monday shows the launch of the interceptor and its collision with the drone, causing it to explode in midair.
The video of the test was filmed and posted to YouTube as part of the company\’s promotional campaign marketing the Iron Dome system to foreign armies. So far, quite a few countries expressed interest, including South Korea, but no deals have been signed yet.
Earlier this month, the Defense Ministry announced that it conducted a series of successful tests to upgrade Iron Dome, so it could intercept several barrages of rockets at the same time, from different directions and for longer ranges.
