Itongadol.- A Palestinian man was arrested on Friday for threatening to stab a soldier near the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron.
The 19-year-old was apprehended by security forces following the incident, according to Israel Radio. No injuries were reported.
The individual is in police custody and remains under investigation.
The Tomb of the Patriarchs is a holy site in both Judaism and Islam, and is said to be the burial place of Abraham, his wife, Sara, and their descendants and wives, the Matriarchs. The Ibrahimi Mosque, a revered Salaheddine-era house of worship, was also built on the location.
The West Bank site has often been a point of contention between Jewish and Muslim worshipers.
Security forces at a Hebron checkpoint thwarted a stabbing attack last year after a 17-year-old Palestinian female carrying a knife admitted to planning an attack on soldiers guarding the tomb.
