Itongadol/AJN.- The newly-created Project Rut aims at mapping historically, demographically and sociologically, the conversions to Judaism in Latin America during the last decades, in order to better understand trends and needs in Latin America. Aligned with the strategic planning of the Seminario, this project will reveal information and new research data that will help us to better appreciate changes in migration patterns, Jewish education, continuity, affiliation, movements’ growth or decline, so that we can improve our projects in the years to come.
This research project consists of a detailed study of the experiences of Jews by choice in the communities during the last ten years. Research data and visits to some of these communities will provide the information to create specific actions to each and every of the different groups that constitute the Jewish population of South America and the Caribbean.
"Rut" is led by Yaakov Rubel and is hosted at the CERES Research Center of the Seminario, led by Prof. Carlos Escude.
