The Israel Air Force on Tuesday night attacked two weapons storage facilities in the northern and southern Gaza Strip. The IDF said that the attack was in response to recent rocket fire emanating from the Strip aimed at Israeli civilians.
The IDF confirmed that its planes registered direct hits on their targets and that they returned safely to their bases.
"The IDF will not tolerate attacks on Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers and will continue to act against terror organizations threatening Israel," The IDF Spokesman\’s Office stated. "We hold the Hamas terror organization responsible in Gaza."
The IDF also released an updated rocket-count on Tuesday night, stating that over 270 rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli civilians since the start of 2012.
On Saturday, the IAF carried out a number of airstrikes against three weapons production sites in central Gaza, and two tunnels used by terrorists, one in northern Gaza and one in the South.
Palestinians sources said seven people were lightly injured by a missile in the central Gaza Strip, according to Israel Radio. According to the report, four of the injured are children, including a baby.
The airstrikes were the second wave of what appeared to be retaliation against various Gaza terror groups following the shooting of St.-Sgt. Netanel Moshiashvili on Friday morning in a clash with a Palestinian gunman who had infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip.
