Yediot Aharonot opines that "Since the fall of the Soviet Union, NATO has not had a more correct and just mission than ensuring the sanity and stability of Libya. NATO has the capability to alter the situation in Libya in the shortest possible timetable."
Ma’ariv argues that "Contrary to what Finance Ministry clerks are saying, paradoxically, there is money to allocate to social workers. What are missing are the will and the sense of justice.”
Yisrael Hayom elucidates: "The GRAD rocket that fell on Beersheba served to summarize the empty remarks regarding the ‘window of opportunity’ standing before us, which is begging for diplomatic gestures that will lead to something, though exactly what is not clear. Ask the commentators. Either way, the day that Israel drops its sponsorship from the Palestinian Authority, Hamas will carry out a military putsch in Judea and Samaria, like in Gaza. Then they will no longer need GRAD rockets in order to fire upon our cities, rifles will suffice."
The Jerusalem Post urges the population to brace itself for the big earthquake which geologists caution can happen any day, and adds that current state-sponsored programs prescribe insufficient safety measures. The editor calls for the urgent establishment of “a disinterested, broad and universally available public framework that would objectively survey all pre-1980 buildings and suggest to residents what can plausibly be done to quakeproof them.”
Haaretz claims that “[PM] Netanyahu’s rightist policies impede Israel’s integration into new regional order,” and states that while the Prime Minister is ostensibly willing to talk with the Palestinians, he offers them nothing beyond the future recognition – laden with preconditions – of a Palestinian state. The editor warns that the government’s policy is “causing serious harm to Israel’s national interests and will only impede Israel’s integration into the new regional order that is taking shape,” and calls on Netanyahu to “heed the warnings of friendly leaders and put forth a practical peace plan”.
