Netanyahu in Singapore: \’We are kindred spirits\’

On his first visit to Singapore, Prime Minister Netanyahu claims \’we are kindred spirits\’; Treated to a warm welcome by the Singaporean Prime Minister, Netanyahu was repeatedly told of Singapore’s belief in a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict ‘as the only way to bring peace and security to both peoples.’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began his state visit in Singapore on Monday morning, meeting with Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Netanyahu thanked them for the warm welcome, stating "This is my first time here. I believe Israel and Singapore are kindred spirits."

He went on to say that "both nations are small, with significant defense and high-tech industries," adding that this is why he believes "that collaboration in all areas between the two nations makes us all the more successful."

Earlier in the day, Netanyahu and his wife Sara were greeted by an honor guard at the presidential palace to the sound of both countries\’ national anthems.

At a joint news conference with Netanyahu, Prime Minister Lee stated that his country believes in a "two-state solution" to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Lee emphasized that he realizes a two-state solution is difficult to achieve, but said it is the only way to achieve peace and stability.
