The NYPD is investigating as a hate crime an antisemitic phone call made Tuesday afternoon to the Jewish Museum, the world’s oldest existing Jewish museum, in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Investigators say a man called the museum and told the answering employee that, “The Nazis did not kill enough of you,” repeating the statement several times. The Museum reported the incident to police, and the Hate Crime Task Force Unit subsequently launched an investigation.

An NYPD official said the suspect may be a male from New Jersey whom detectives are trying to track down. The official said the call is worth taking seriously even though the suspect did not make any threatening comments during the phone call.
