Itongadol.- IDF engineers on Friday found large amounts of unexploded improvised explosive devices near the border with Gaza and were able to prevent a potentially devastating terror attack, Yedioth Ahronoth reported.
According to the newspaper, some of the devices which were discovered were connected to remote-controlled timers via a cell phone.
The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and IDF are investigating the suspicion that terrorists had planned a large-scale terror attack on IDF troops near Gaza.
The explosives were discovered not far from the place where, on Wednesday, an improvised explosive device was thrown at IDF soldiers as they were patrolling the Gaza border
No Israeli soldiers were injured in the incident. The soldiers responded with mortar fire in the direction of two suspicious targets.
The attack came three days after a rocket fired from Gaza struck an open field in southern Israel\’s Gaza belt region.
In response, the Israel Air Force (IAF) launched airstrikes against two terrorist infrastructures belonging to Hamas in northern and central Gaza.
