Itongadol.- A new poll has found that two thirds of Israelis think that Israel was justified in halting the peace talks with the Palestinians after Fatah entered a reconciliation agreement with Hamas.

The poll released on Wednesday by The Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) and Tel Aviv University (TAU) has found that 68% of Israeli Jews believe their government\’s decision to stop negotiations with the Palestinians following the reconciliation agreement "was appropriate." Twenty seven percent of Israelis polled said they do not think the decision to halt the talks was appropriate.

Following the breakdown in the talks, US President Obama said that Mideast peace has proven elusive due to the unwillingness of leaders in the region to make "hard choices."

The IDI/TAU poll found that a majority, 56 percent, of Israeli Jews did not agree with Obama\’s equal apportionment of blame between the Israeli and Palestinian leaders. Thirty-nine percent of Israeli Jews agreed with President Obama\’s assessment.
