Itongaodl.- "When we were in Venezuela to talk with Hugo Chavez about its government position about Israel and the local jews, and also about the antisemitism in the public media, Argentinian chancellor´s, Hector Timerman, performance was very important ", but with his later drive and defend of the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran about AMIA attack, he "proved that he is not a good friend of the jewish community", Jack Terpins, Latin American Jewish Congress´ president, said, yesterday, in an exclusive interview with the Jewish News Agency.
"We continued very well related to the Argentinian government. The problem is the Argentinian jew with their government, and with every reason. We will always support jew´s attitudes against its government when they do something silly like this agreement with Iran. We were very worried about this and we expressed the Congress´ firm position against it", he said. Terpins visited Argentina to participate in an DAIA event, the political arm of the Argentinian jewish community.
"We are very worried about the Islamic Republic because it has a great influence in Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia and a bit of Brazil, that has a trade surplus of 2.000 Millon dollars and can´t fight with Iran, but they also can´t surrender for money", he warned.
"Our work is to look after the Diaspora jews in Latin America and we will be where there is an antisemitic government, in Venezuela, Brazil or here, where they are used to it", he added.
