At least 250 Palestinian and left-wing demonstrators clashed with Border Police forces at the Kalandia checkpoint between Jerusalem and Ramallah Sunday afternoon as part of "Naksa Day," or the 44th commemoration of the 1967 Six-Day War Palestinians see as a "setback" and appropriation of their land.
Channel 10 reported that protesters threw rocks, Molotov cocktails, and burning tires in the direction of police forces, who responded by firing tear gas and shock grenades. Winds brought the gas back at police officers, who began firing rubber bullets in order to disperse the demonstration instead.
A number of Palestinian were injured during the demonstration, Channel 10 said.
In Hebron, protesters threw rocks and bottles at a kindergarten in the Beit Hadassah. The children were brought inside and no injuried were reported.
Also in the West Bank, dozens of Palestinians and left-wing activists marched toward the Elon Moreh settlement attempting to break through the village’s gates.
Protesters set a small fire, which was extinguished, and were dispersed.
In Ramallah, a 200-person rally was gathered in Manara Square.
Hundreds of Palestinians began marching in commemoration of the "Naksa" in Gaza’s Beit Hanun.
