Several dozen Muslim worshipers clashed with security forces on the Temple Mount on Tuesday morning, throwing stones and firecrackers at the Israeli security forces routinely deployed in and around the compound.
Police and Border Police forces stormed the compound and used crowd-control measures to disperse the riot. Two policemen sustained mild injuries and three rioters were arrested.
The compound remained open to visitors throughout the incident.
The riot erupted ahead of a Knesset plenum debate on Israeli sovereignty over the Temple Mount. The session was called by Likud MK Moshe Feiglin and has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
