Yediot Aharonot notes that "Europe is now awakening from one of the biggest economic experiments in history. Recession struck the entire continent, and countries are trying to extract themselves from the economic pit into which they fell by implementing draconic austerity measures that include a deadly cocktail of budget cuts, tax rises and brutal privatization. But the political results up until now have been pitiful. Europe has not succeeded in pulling itself out of the mud." The author poses: "What hidden lessons does this story have for us? Is the economic leadership in Israel ready to demonstrate flexibility? Is it attempting to learn the lessons that were learned in the rest of the world?"

Ma\’ariv remarks that "This week the world celebrated V Day, the day of victory over the dark powers lead by Germany. Here we ignore it or, at the most, we look for some unimportant episode from a war veteran." The author stresses that "In a few more years, the heroes whom with their own hands achieved the victory for the free world will no longer march in the streets on the 9th of May. This is the time to bestow significance to this day."

Yisrael Hayom says that "In light of its shared border with Syria, Jordan is hosting military exercises with the United States in which, according to reports, 17 Arab and other friendly states will take part." The author advises Syrian President Bashar Assad: "Beware, they are waiting for you."

Haaretz sharply criticizes the brutal police suppression of the spontaneous demonstration against the ‘stinking maneuver’ – the political zigzagging that brought about the cancellation of the forthcoming elections and the formation a new unity government that ensures that the present government remains in power for another year and a half – and states: “the Israel Police must internalize the fact that demonstrators have the right to express their feelings, even if neither the content nor the tone find favor in the establishment’s eyes.”

The Jerusalem Post tackles the controversial Harpaz Affair, which began as an attempt to thwart the appointment of Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant as Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi’s successor, in light of the new probe launched by State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss that “discovered much evidence indicating
that Ashkenazi’s staff was involved in collecting and hoarding information on
rivals.” Calling for a full investigation, the editor states that “It’s in the public interest that the truth come out – more specifically, that it be allowed to,” and asserts: “it’s the only prudent way forward.”
