Itongadol.- The IDF on Thursday announced it has filed an indictment against a soldier in the Central Military District Court for illegally sharing classified military information regarding IDF operations on the Syrian border with another Israeli citizen who passed the information on to the Syrian government.

The soldier, whose name is still under gag order and was referred to merely as H.H., serves in a fighting unit and was formally charged with exposing secrets and aiding the enemy.

According to the indictment, H.H. provided information “which could harm state security” around February 16-17.

The Israeli citizen middleman who he provided the information to was indicted earlier this week by the Nazareth District Court for a wide range of security offenses.

H.H. was arrested by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) on February 25.

The Central District Military Court has ordered H.H. remanded to military police custody until the end of the trial and, until now, had issued a gag order on the entire affair.
