Itongadol.- Rory Cowan, The star of hit British comedy "Mrs. Brown\’s Boys" says he received death threats after a video that showed him hosting an Israeli embassy event went viral.
Rory Cowan, who plays Rory Brown in the show, told the Irish Evening Herald daily earlier this week that anti-Israel activists tried to get him fired from his job on the popular BBC show.
"I\’ve had death threats," Cowan said. "There\’s been a campaign to get me replaced in Mrs. Brown\’s Boys."
According to the report, a 2013 video of Cowan at an Israeli embassy event celebrating the country\’s 65th anniversary was uploaded to the internet and quickly went viral, leading to a slew of attacks against the actor.
"People took that video and they said, \’Well, look, he\’s standing with Israel, he\’s supporting genocide and the killing of children,\’" Cowan told the Herald. "And with that it just came from everywhere."
"I love going to Israel," he said. "I\’ve been going since 1982 and I was telling them about my good experiences there and why I wouldn\’t be boycotting it."
The actor vowed not to the let the criticism negatively affect him, but added: "The one thing that really bothered me were the antisemitic comments."
