Itongadol.- The Israel Broadcasting Authority has prohibited the country\’s Eurovision contestant from wearing a dress by controversial designer John Galliano, who publically made racist and anti-Semitic comments in the past.
The decision came after a recent interview for the news website Mako, in which Moran Mazor said that her "stylist reached out to several international designers among them John Galliano. Fortunately, he accepted the challenge of designing a dress."
Yoav Ginai, an official for the IBA, the body that represents the Eurovision in Israel, sent an internal memo directing Mazor\’s agent Liam Productions to drop the arrangement with Galliano.
Ginai wrote, "I have no doubt as an Israeli and a Jew that such a \’splendid resume\’ precludes someone from dressing the Israeli Eurovision representative, at a time when racism and anti-Semitism is rampant in Europe, even if he had apologized."
Liam Productions said that Mazor will not wear Galliano\’s clothing.
Two years ago, Dior gave Galliano the boot over a video that surfaced of him making racist and anti-Semitic comments.
A French court later ruled he had made "public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity" in several incidents.
In one incident, Galliano stated his love for Adolf Hitler at a Paris bar and told people he believed were Jewish that their mothers should have been gassed.
He blamed his outbursts on addictions to drugs and alcohol.
Mazor who will represent Israel in Eurovision contest hosted by Sweden in May, is slated to sing "Rak Bishvilo" [Only for Him].
