The Diplomat Marek Malarsky confirmed that his country recovered the sign, though divided in three. “Right now, it is being reassembled. There is a temporary sign replacing it,” he stressed.
He added that the assembling process will take two or three additional weeks.
Malarsky assured that from now on, Poland will improve the surveillance along the Camp, bearing in mind that it is a really large area. “According to our Chancery, new systems will be set up and the number of police officers will increase so that this event won´t happen again.”
Regarding Argentina’s Jewish Community, he said that Poland will be sending a representative to explain the incidents and the current situation regarding the theft, and to meet Jewish leaders, with the intention of coming together.
Linking the sign’s theft and the constant negation of the Holocaust on the part of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Diplomat stressed that “Poland condemns Ahmadinejad for denying the Holocaust” and said that Poland has invited Iranian officers to see personally what happened there under the Nazi regime.  He added that his Government is working towards weakening and fighting against such representations. “In case of further negations, Poland will help the Jewish community to defend Shoa’s existence”.
