In a speech delivered during a ceremony held by the Argentine Jewish community in the AMIA building on the occasion of the Jewish High Holidays, the President of DAIA (Delegation of Argentine Israeli Associations), Aldo Donzis, joined the criticism against the Iranian government, which he defined as "a permanent danger," and discredited the statements of the pro-government picket leader, Luis D’Elia, who had accused Rabbi Sergio Bergman of jeopardizing the security of his family.
"The Jewish people is pacific and he (referring to D’Elia) certainly doesn’t need to have a fence at his house door as the Jewish community in Argentina does," the leader said clearly defending Rabbi Sergio Bergman.
In an interview with Argentina’s Jewish News Agency (AJN), DAIA president strengthened his stance on the Iranian regime’s policy: "The claim against Iran is permanent; the world acknowledges it as constant threat and danger. We must put an end to terror threats because we can all be the target of a terror attack," Donzis said, and added: "the threat today is the silence of the world in the face of Ahmadinejad’s statements."
In turn, the Great Rabbi, Shlomo Ben Hamu, surprised the audience when he defined Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as "the new Hitler of the world," and he urged "the world not to tolerate his statements under any circumstance."
Moreover, Israeli Ambassador to Argentina, Rafael Eldad, said in an exclusive interview with AJN, that although he believes the Iranian leader "has the same intention as Hitler, he will not be able to accomplish it because the State of Israel is strong and the world will not let that happen."
The President of Argentine Zionist Organization, Carlos Frauman, also joined the criticism and urged the international community to understand that "the enemy today is disguised as anti-Zionism but it is the same old anti-Semitism. My enemies are the President of Iran and Hezbollah, and not the Jew who thinks different from me," the leader said.
The representative of the Wiesenthal Center in Latin America, Sergio Widder, echoed the speeches against Ahmadinejad and told AJN that "the Iranian President is the most visible enemy of the Jewish people due to his incitement to a new genocide. We hope that the international Jewish community will join in the efforts to prevent a criminal act."
