Peres elected ‘Jewish Personality of 2007′ by Argentine newspaper

A poll by the Web site of the Argentine-based Jewish community newspaper Iton Gadol on Wednesday named President Shimon Peres the «Jewish Personality of 2007.»
Peres garnared a clear majority in the vote held by the Spanish-speaking newspaper. Over 1,200 people from Latin-America, Israel and the United States cast their vote, in selecting their favorite candidate from a list proposed by the site’s readers.
Other names on the voters’ list included the abducted Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit; Adriana Drisud, an Argentine female victim of anti-Semitic attacks in the Argentine city of Rosario; Luis Grynwald, chairman of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA); Alberto Nisman, the prosecutor investigating the 1994 AMIA Bombing in Buenos Aires, and the Argentine writer Juan Gelman.
